Self- Realization Fellowship Books & Gifts Store
The Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas, California, commissioned Phillipe Horvath to redesign a dilapidated, 7000 sq. ft., Napa Auto Parts Store into a books and gifts store that highlighted the spiritual teachings of the late Indian spiritual master, Paramahansa Yogananda, as well as offer a variety of art, gifts, and furniture, all from India. The books and gifts store was to also serve as place of community and tourist outreach, in terms of opening up their brand of spiritual guidance to the public.
Marsha Lenoff, of the Self-Realization Fellowship staff provided the original design concepts. Phillipe Horvath, was responsible for design development, construction documents, as well as site observation for both the interior and exterior spaces.
Al-Fatih Academy
The Long Beach Islamic Center asked Phillipe Horvath to provide conceptual designs for a mosque and qua'anic academy. The Signal Hill site will also include outdoor prayer and social spaces, administrative offices, a library and an indoor college size basketball court. The walls of the structures will be constructed from rammed earth dug from the excavated subterranean parking.
